1 bar 'R vs Audi TTS

Hmmm, my mate has a new Audi TTs and was laughing saying it will p*ss all over mine. I'm not so convinced?
I think they are around 260bhp.....but a lot heavier than mine.
I'm running 1bar with the mines ECU. Using 99RON fuel but for this 'drive' i will use octane booster as well o get it to 100RON and increase boost to 1.1 lol.

octance booster is a waste of time imo, use what your car is mapped for. even if its been mapped on 95ron use 95ron.

imo, you shud show his TiT a clean pair of jap heels.

You should eat it for breakfast lunch , dinner, and desert! There really not that quick I had a play with one and that's on standard boost well 0.6 , so easyly have him

Ah cool, I thought as much :)
Well the mines is mapped for 100RON hence y I only put Tesco super in. That's 99RON. Its mapped to run 1.1 apparently but I never go that high after having just rebuilt the engine.
Cheers guys.

I would think about getting your motor dyno'd mate to the right boost level. im afraid im speaking from experience as Ive just had to change my engine after my mines killed it @1bar.

Ah ok, how did the mines kill your engine then? I ran my mines with 1.1bar for over a year and the big end went but it was on it's way out any way. I have only just run my engine in after a full re-build and to be completely honest, I run it on 0.7bar 90% of the time. I have only taken it up to 1 bar on two occasions now as im just so reluctant to ruin my enigine.
I do plan to run Nistune soon though :)

something to do with the pistons, not too sure yet if its pistonrings or ring lands as i havent opened it up yet but #3piston is @<100psi and all the others are @ 120ish psi and they all go up about 10psi when a spoon of oil is poured down the wells.

Im not saying it will kill your engine as obviously most people dont bother and have no problems, but for peace of mind... I defo going to get checked out when im up and running again.

Ah ok, yer fair enough I see what you mean. I'm not a fan of these generic maps anyway as every engine is different and needs setting up properly. Anyone can whack in a Mines and raise the boost but will have no idea if its running correctly or not. I'm buying a wideband sensor anyway very soon so I can keep an eye on it. My uni project will take car of the ignition when I have finished it ;)

Do you mean the latest TT's with 2.5l turbo and 335bhp IIRC?If so you will lose at 1 bar once over 60mph or so.I raced one at York about half a dozen times and battered it to 60mph every time(I was doing between 4.6-5 sec 0-60s then it just cruised past and beat my trap speeds by 10mph and by about 0.5-1 second every time.
I was peaking at 1bar but quickly falling to 0.7bar as had a problem with the boost control on the day and car was about 260bhp at that boost(0.7) on a new engine.

Isnt that the TT RS? i think he means the TTS which is the 2.0 engine, think its kicks out about 265-270-ish iirc?

think if your cars healthy it should eek it out as the audi will be carrying a bit more weight, but only in a straight line contest, i think the audi will leave you on a "handling" course....of course thats all dependant on how much bottle your mate has for pushing his new toy to its limits

Wouldnt call them small, would say that they are better matched to the engines they are bolted to from a standard equipment point of view than the stuff bolted to the nissan, why fit a 350bhp capable turbo when your only releasing the car with 220bhp? from a tuning point of view the nissans great, but if you put a 300bhp turbo on a car and run it at 270 you will have a lot better throttle response, less lag, be able to drive it quicker etc

When was this? A while ago? A TT(standard) shouldn't beat you by that much. Even then your car was pretty rapid (low 12s)? Do you have a date, the results might still be on the York site.

Lets face it mate, even if you loose it wont be by much, in which case you can say to your mate "well done...you spent £xxxxx to go slightly faster than a 20 year old Nissan sunny"

lol, that's what I always say when someone beats me haha.

All I know is its got around 260bhp and Im sure it's a TTs. Pretty sure it isn't the rs though (which would kill mine lol).

I shall let you all know how it goes, maybe have some video footage as well

Last summer Carl, boost wasn't holding so was well down on power. The Audi looked good and went well too for a standard car.

Best I did was a 12.7 on standard engine and turbo. Its a fair bit quicker now though.

Think the 2 litre turbo ones use the revised engine from the Golf 30 which has a slightly bigger turbo and forged pistons over the one in the mk5 golfs etc..
