I’m putting my beloved GTIR (umbrella model, still with the car) up for sale due to it failing it’s MOT this week (details below). It was going to be sold anyway as my wife & I have recently had twin baby girls, so a car with no back seats isn’t very practical. The Pulsar was my winter car & I have an RX7 for the summer (again, no back seats!), so both are going to have to be sold to make way for a 4 seater.

The Pulsar runs and drives very well, with no knocks, bangs or smoke. It’s mechanically in good working order, with no issues whatsoever (the previous owner was a mechanic). It starts first time every time. The bodywork is in good condition for the year – the arches are solid, however there is some rust starting to show. The car has been maintained to a high standard, with a full service 1000 miles ago in November 2015 (with a full oil change).

It has 106,000 showing on the clock, but this is obviously a mixture of miles & kilometres. I’m unsure of the mileage when it was imported, but the mileage is obviously less than 105,000 miles. The car was first registered in the UK on 01.07.2000, with the odometer readings at previous MOT’s as follows:

Current 106,000
11.05.15 104,437
28.02.14 103,881
12.02.11 96,150
12.02.10 90,237
12.02.09 86,538

The car has now been declared SORN & will remain that way until it’s sold. I’m in no hurry to sell it as I have the RX7 for the summer, so no silly offer please.

Regarding the MOT failure. the Pulsar needs some work doing to the chassis (A box section needs to be made & fitted due to a very small hole currently present) & a new lambda sensor is needed to sort emmissions. To be honest, I think it’s a harsh MOT failure.

In my opinion it's currently a perfect ready-to-drive track car (no MOT needed), but it would equally be perfect car for someone who could do the work to the chassis themselves to achieve an MOT.

It would take the best part of £1000 (mainly labour) to get the car through its MOT, which I don’t have spare at the moment, so I’m having to sell it at a reduced price to compensate. For someone who can do the work themselves, it would be a fraction of the cost & would add value to the car.

Feel free to e-mail me if I’ve missed anything or you want any more info (martinstaylor@hotmail.com). Will try & put some photos up shortly. It's not yet advertised anywhere else - thought here was a great place to start.

I’ve priced the car accordingly due to it not having a current MOT @ £4,500 ovno
