3rd gear sound

i get a slight clunk sound when going into 3rd gear only.
Is this the syncro?? if so how much am i looking at getting a new syncro supplied and fitted?
Is it cheaper getting a second hand box?

Will changing oil to a thicker type help??

Hi mate,

Mine used to clunk into 4th and this was 4th gear syncro. But i just bought a new reconned box for £500.

If its at high rpm only then it would be the baulk ring...

Either way its engine out job - £300 - 400
Labour for GearBox rebuild - £300+
Parts - depends whats broken
While its all out you might want to change the clutch...

Not cheap either way....

Mate if you ask Ollie he can take gearboxes out without removing the engine. Clever man.

3rd gear crunches @ any rpm.
clutch is new, but fulid is due to be replaced.
