Air Regulator

Hi,

Has anybody else got a spare air regulator or one off the car at the minute?

I Need to know if there is always a gap, or should it be fully closed?

To fully close mine there is a little resistance, the spring alone wont close it, took the spring off and it still retracts fully, doesnt seem worn.

Wondering if thats why the idle is 1500rpm if the regulator should be closing all the way..

it should close completely.

try blanking off the pipes and see how the idle goes.......

I always thought it was dependent on how hot/cold the thing is to how far open/shut it is?

good point!! It's got a bimetal strip inside, i'll put some warm water through the heater pipe on it, should close up then?

Just run hot water from the tap over the base of the regulator, it did close over with a slight gap, took a few minutes..

Prob be quicker when connected to the engine coolant!!
