Hi i`ve done a few topic search and can`t really find an answer . what gauge wire is ok to use thinking of 4gauge, and can you use amp power wire as it comes with in line fuses.i got a bmw cable but that is not very bendable, also to cut and fit connectors as i am looking to put a cut off switch on the dash . any info would be a great help.

Hi,

The thicker the wire, the better. Thinner wire will have a greater voltage drop over longer distances, and may not be able to handle larger current loads. Check out this website for current/voltage-drop values on different sized wire:

Current & voltage-drop values

Personally, I'm using 0-gauge cable which I had from a previous sound system install. I'm also using a high-current ANL fuse and holder. These fuses can be purchased for currents past 300A - much more than you'll be drawing when starting/running the car.

Good luck,
Dave
