Best 17" wheel offset?

Hi chaps,
I bought my car with some 17" Rota Splitstreams ......now I've tried to search what ET (offset) and what J the wheels have.
I have found some codes on them but nothing concludent.....I suppose the code "e 45" is related to the offset....but the space between my rear rim and the shock absorber is approx. 5mm.....with an 5 mm spacer.....without the spacer the wheel will rub the shock absorber.
So.....bye bye rear camber adjustment.

Therefore I will need some advice from your side !

Any help is much appreciated!

I have found most wheels with 7J (7" width) and ET45 will rub with most 205 or wider tyres. I have always just run 10-20mm spacers on the rear anyway. Having less offset (high number) on the front is much more important as it affects bumpsteer and scrub angles etc. The rear doesn't do much steering so its less affected.

Yeah.....but I will need longer wheel studs on the 20 mm spacer.
But what abiut the ET on the front?
What are you using??
