big alloys

what is the optimum / wheel & tyre dimensions if i want to put on the biggest alloys without modifying the arches?

i have 16's on now but i think the tyres are too deep, as they seem to catch on the front o/s

What tyres do you have on and what offset are the alloys?

205/50/16 & i don't know how to tell what the offset of the alloys is? What is the optimum tyre size for 16" please?
