Got my engine stripped and have discovered that ive done a big end bearing and a MAIN bearing!!

How common is this for them both to go at the same and what would cause this to happen??

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

Mst likely whats happened is that you've done the big end so badly it's bent the crank which in turn has done the main.
It does seem to be quite a common problem mostly associated with low oil pressure/contaminated oil or a bad rebuild.

So would a bad rebuild contribute to the oil pressure being low???

low oil pressure could be caused by a number of things, excessive big end/main bearing clearences, worn pump rotors, sticking oil pressure regulator or even by leaving the o-rings out on the pump, how about putting a full story down mate, it could even be a blocked oil pick up pipe, jeff.

I noticed when i rebuilt mine all down chamber side number on i.e cams piston number 1 and big ends were showing signs of more wear than the rest :?

These cars must have i bit of an oil pressure problem that it mainly affects the timing chain end?
