Boost Problems

hey guys

My car has no boost controller, mods so far are cat back exhaust, pod filter and BOV, normally my car runs at 0.7 bar which feels sweet and quick. Lately my car is running 0.55 bar, feels very sluggish and spooling sound is much louder to reach 0.55bar. i've also notice the boost comes in quick but doesnt push the car and feels like so much power is lost compared to normal. it's still quick but sluggish when hitting boost.
Will a boost controller fix this? (heat soak is not a problem, even happens when i drive at cold nights with no traffic)
or is it something else that i need to look at.?
any help or advice is appreciated
Thanks
Dave

It sounds like the car is going into safe mode which cuts the boost to 0.5 bar and retards the timing (which is why it feels sluggish  )

Could be a dodgy connection somewhere. Have you tried doing the ecu fault code test :?:

I've just had this problem with similar symptoms. Turned out my BOV was fcuked, and was just venting to atmosphere all the time because of a weak spring.

When this happens would the gauges / boost controller still show 0.7 or would it be retarded and only go to 0.5?

Mine sometimes goes sluggish when warm and doesn't accelerate properly (holds back), wondered about safe mode but my AVCR and mechanical gauge still boost to 0.7 - 0.8 as normal.

Have you still got the standard boost solenoid connected :?:

It sounds like you havent, so going into safe mode wouldnt cut the boost but it would still retard the timing and make the car feel slow

hey i know its a stupid question but where is the ECU in the car?
is it on the passengers footwell?

i drove it today. first 10 or so minutes it runs ok. pointing right up to 0.7 bar. and then all of a sudden it boosts to 0.5 bar, theres so much difference in power.

its behind the center dash

look at the "kick panels" in the passenger footwell (to your right) and in the drivers sdie to your left, undo them and its behind hte heater controls

Join the 0.55Bar club!! It is v v slow.

You say the car hasn't got a boost controller, but do you know if it has ever had one?? My car used to have one and the solenoid kit is still plumbed in which is reducing my boost to 0.55Bar. Just wondered whether your's might be the same. Happens quite a bit when people rob the gauges on import. If it is you should be able to redirect the pipework to get standard boost again.

humm somthing i'm confused about.....

When i want to save fuel on long distance driving i just switch off the HKS EVC 4 and it goes back to factory 0.7 bar. The car pulls all the way to 0.7 bar and holds it. Does the aftermarket HKS solenoid have the factory setting when the EVC control unit is off :?:

I've never had my boost drop below 0.7 bar :?
