In the engine bay mounted on the passenger side wing.

Little black box with a small pipe and an electrical connector.

umm i dunno, if a pipe was of would it cause the ignitian to cut when u floor it, at around 5psi it will cut

If a pipe was off and not sealed you'd draw air in and run weak, possibly detonate which the DET sensor would pick up and put the ECU into safe mode - so yes it may run shite.

If you disonnected that pipe and sealed it up, all that would happen is that ur gauge would stop working. The ECU doesn't know what boost you are running.

i take it no codes would have been put in the ecu then, as i havnt got any present

as in fault codes?

if the det sensor is triggered the ecu goes into safe mode until the det goes away - no fault code is recorded.

fault codes are only recorded when the ecu cannot "see" a sensor (open circuit / broken wire etc.) or when the signal coming from a sensor is outside the range the ecu expects to see from it.

so what tells the ecu what boost is being run, and what tells it when its to much
