Can anyone give me some advice on breaks please. I just use the R on roads (not track days etc).

Just has a service and will need new discs and pads soon. What are the best makes to go with, without paying silly money?

Also, I was thinking about new calipers? Again, what makes do you guys use and can you recommend where to purchase etc?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Did a full caliper strip down n refurb : seal kit n shims from nissan. Change pads to ceramic redstuff n OE on rear along with halfords 5.1 fluid obviously with full bleed.
Never goin to be track brakes but hell of alot better!

Hi-spec are rubbish, their 285mm kit could not even stop my 140bhp mk6 escort, they use standard discs and drill and groove them mine turned up with burr's on the holes and grooves, i traced the numbers back from the disc to some sort of renault, laguna i think, they lasted a few weeks (about 1000 miles) before buckling and turning blue, not my idea of fun really, not to mention safety!!

The Laguna disc is only 280mm so it's not those. I was going to make a kit up with the Laguna disc but I didn't think the extra 1.5cm of disc was worth all the effort.

brakes

know i got to say that even standard grooved discs with decent pads such as ceramettalic red stuff pads or mintex pads , along with a braided hoses will be a huge improvement to the standard brakes, but if your upping the power then you need to get rid of the standard calliphers, so their for will reccomend you to go for a brake kit. The new wilwoods are apparantly good, hispecs a little more expspensive, but APs are top but top £££££ aswell. I think the wilwoods will be ideal check out the brake kit group buy
