Cam Advice

Im looking to get myself a set of cams and pulleys in the next couple of months but need a bit of advice on what to go for!

Alot of people seem to be using the HKS 264's, but i can only find Hiteq that sell them, is there no japanese compnay that sell them!?!

After a quick trawl through Nengun ive found the following products and need a bit of advice as to whats best for my needs, bearing in mind i want a car thats still driveable around town and currently on stock internals but would be able to cope with new internals if it goes pop!

HKS Pulleys - 2203-RN009 = £74 delivered

TOMIE PULLEYS - 13024R310 = £85 delivered
TOMIE PRO CAM + Pulleys (260deg, 12mm lift lash type) - 153017 = £341 delivered

Greddy Cams (264deg, 11.5mm lift) - £340 delivered

Also would the cams and pulleys be interchangeble, ie use the greddy cams with hks pulleys and would new valave springs be required for any of these?

Thanks guys and girls

I have just bought the Tomie pro cams (260x12mm) And you will need new valve springs to cope with that much lift, I bought a new set of springs and titanium retainers from kelford cams in New Zealand.

Thats some pretty good prices you have their though.

What turbo are you using, what boost, what rpm limit what engine size...??

For the 12mm lift you need spec'd springs...

currently on a gt3071 running 1.2bar but that will be increased according to the mods that are fitted. rev limit is factory standard.

just been pairing up the tomie 260deg cams & pulleys (greenline) with kelford double valve springs and titanium retainers for £596 delivered for the lot.

or for a bit more i can go for a full JUN cam pulley spring setup which will probably give me better driveability at lower revs?

make sure the cams are for the GTiR rather than just SR20DET, they are different.

nearly all of these companies have a vehicle/engine specific section so theres very little chance of getting the wrong application

right ive just got a final quote from greenline on the following cam setups:

JUN Stage 2 Camshaft Kit (264/10.8 IN/EX) RNN14: 120,120 yen
JUN Intake Cam Pulley RNN14: 15,939 yen
JUN Exhaust Cam Pulley RNN14: 15,939 yen
Shipping: 16,300 yen
TOTAL: 168,298 yen
TOTAL w/Paypal Fees: 176,713 yen (about £785.86)

TOMEI PROCAM Intake Camshaft 260/12mm RNN14: 21,252 yen
TOMEI PROCAM Exhaust Camshaft 260/12mm RNN14: 21,252 yen
TOMEI Intake Cam Pulley RNN14: 14,784 yen
TOMEI Exhaust Cam Pulley RNN14: 14,784 yen
Shipping: 16,300 yen
TOTAL: 88,372 yen
TOTAL w/Paypal Fees: 92,791 yen (about £412.65)

Do i really need the Heavy duty double valve springs and type 1 titanium valve retainers with the JUN setup, as without these the figure for just cams and pulleys is about £450.

These quotes exclude any import duty that may need to be paid!

You will need the up ratted valves springs for the 12mm lift cam's but not for the 264's fella, The retainers would be up to you I suppose, I just got everything for the pub bragging rights     .

Piper cams do two sets for the SR20 RNN14. Neither say they need valve springs (argue this with pipe not me!) Fast road and Ultimate road, are both £390+V a set and are all 11.13mm valve lift in and out with 260 and 272 deg dur for the ultimate road.

I would..

And if you go with the TOMEI setup you WILL NEED custom springs, seats etc...
