Clutch Pedal Adjustment Clarification

Afternoon all,
Been looking at adjusting my clutch biting point in line with the owners manual as i`ve now got a "non worn through" clutch fork:

This says adjust so there`s 1-3mm in the clevis pin mechanism (at the pedal face) and then as a final check 10-15mm at the pedal face :?

Here it mentions getting an inch at the pedal face:

Can anyone just clear it up?

Maybe i`m looking into it too much (being a perfectionist again :doh:!)

I've always set it up with about an inch of freeplay and not had a problem.

The manual says less but hey ho, the bite point will just be a little lower with less chance of burning the clutch or the bearing out.

That's fair enough stu.

It just confuses me how to set it with mm of play and then check for 10 to 15mm of play.

As you said in the other thread, you have the movement when the pedal is pushed initially (at this point the rod is easily moving into the cylinder) then just set your inch from then?
Basically ignoring the clevis pin play?

The reason I ask is every so often the pedal makes a clicking noise? Like it's tightening then loosening:der:

ollie, i just have the inch of freeplay at the pedal and make sure i have some play in the clutch arm to the little pushrod on the slave cyl.

It might be wise to remove the clutch pedal completely and check for cracks/ warping in the bracket as this will cause you to have a pedal that feels a bit mushy .



darky, as the system is hydraulic it does self adjust but you still have to initially set the freeplay when you fit a new part, eg new clutch or master cyl or even slave cyl...
