clutch/slave cylinder question

the master cylinder has just been replaced on the car but now when we bleed the clutch the slave cylinder pops the piston out including the bar. it looks as though the lever that comes from the clutch moves too far towards the passenger wing, are we doing something wrong or missing something that obvious or is this a sign that the thrust release bearing has decided to leave the country! it has been very noisy for a while now.

any help would be great.

sounds like either the thrust bearing has come of and spun on fork or the fork has broken and the pivot has psuhed through the arm
