Hello again people.
I was driving my R along the motorway few days ago and the clutch kept slipping at about 4000rpm  and since that the clutch is getting worse, I took it to my local garage and he told me it was a 10 and a half hour job, and he would charge me £500 inc clutch (as long as the clutch is no more than £120) lol i doubt u can even get a clutch that cheap for a R.
well any way lads il get to the point, I want a new clutch (uprated prefered) but i have limited funds, £300 max for the clutch, does any one know of a decent clutch that i could get at that price? and also is the the garage hoving me on or what??? any ways hope to hear back from u. :p Darrell

I think 10 hours isn't to far off what it would take to do the job properly, Mind you the engine can be got out in 2 to 3 hours if you know what you are doing som maybe 8 hours would be nearer the mark.

I wouldn't be fitting a cheap clutch unless you plan to sell the car soon, Otherwise you may find yourself doing the job again, And sooner than you'd like lol lol.

Get yourself a RPS street Max, its still an organic clutch, and not a paddle as there too harsh on your box.

Speak to Lionel at Clutch and he'l sort you one out for around the £300 mark, thats what i paid.

Where do you live dazza?

Tom fergusons in Newcastle charged me £300 labour to do the clutch, in and out in a day

hi !

i think that my clutch will also give up soon.
actually its a nismo one, but i dont want it again.

do you think that an RPS will be fine for 400-450 hp ?
and a drag race from time to time ?

thanks
bye.

Clutchs are rated in torque figures, and the RPS street max is rated at 475lb/ft.

Id say they`d be champion at 400bhp. Im sure others could confirm.

ok,thanks.

how much torque can i expect from a 450hp car ?
standard should be around 280 or so.

just make sure you strengthen the release bearing fork or at least buy a new one from nissan if fitting the rps. But for a light pedal and everyday driving helix.

hi !

what is the release bearing fork ?
you mean the part that moves the bearing ?
that one where the slave cylinder goes to ?

why should i buy a new one ?

had a helix one installed for around 15000 miles.
the release bearings broke and made some damage = no helix anymore.

should i use the RPS bearings or an original one ?

thanks
bye.

helix r good and can use the skyline clamping plate to take more torque without going for a paddal as for the realease bearing ive never herd of a helix 1 having any probs before u may have got a faulty 1

South Devon. Try having a word with MarkTurbo on this forum, I think he's in the south west somewhere. I'd trust him more than a local garage. Wether he'd want to do it or not is another matter, but you can gauantee your car will be running right when you get it back, no boost hoses unconnected or cross connected etc.

£500 including the clutch is a fair price, BUT the clutch WILL be more than £120 so won't apply. If you don't boot the car when the clutch slips you can use the car for a long time, I did for about 8months including the drag strip, just use the gears to avoid boosting it though 4000rpm, at about 5000rpm mine was fine again.
