dash heating vents

driverside and passenger side comes through hot whilst the central one comes through cold? is this a common problem?

I've had a couple of jap cars that this seemed common on, But i don't know whether the GTI-R is one of them or if its a fault like a stuck flap in the heating ducts as i don't own one yet

The centre one can operate as a "vent" which just lets the outside air in; you've probably got it get on that. Turn the wheel in the middle the other way and it should come out hot like the other vents.

Not if the cable isn't atatched.
I've seen loads of gtirs that have had the cable clip snapped off when the owners have removed the dash trim without un hooking the cable first.

Good point Stu!

I think I took mine out of the dashboad and attached it to the frame behind so it stays there when the dash comes out rather than having to fiddle about reconnecting it from the footwell.
