det sensor cracked

replaced my det sensor yesterday {without removing oil filter}
after running in safe mode for 3 months with a fault code 3 4
thing is the old sensor has about 5 cracks on the plastic case
any one know why this has happened
i just dont wanna crack any more and get mugged at nissan again?

its just because its old, and has got hot, mine had a couple of cracks in it as well
