Exhaust temperature sensor

Hello,
had a new exhaust fit today an the temp sensor was seized into the exhaust.
quite simply, do I need it?
It seems to run ok without it, but have not done any long journeys yet. Running an apexi power FC ECU.

What the cat temp sensor or the lambda by the turbo chris?

It's Deffo not the lambda Danny, so I'm guessing its a cat temp sensor?? An now I'm presuming not having a cat means its not needed??
