Hi all, I am looking for some expertise and maybe the voice of experience too!
I have this exhaust which includes a decat:
..and to make it fit my car I need to cut off the decat silencer, cut the flange off it and join the flange onto the cut end of the pipe, making it into the equivalent of a 'cat back' for a GtiR.
Welding might be difficult making sure the flange ends up at the right angle etc.
I wondered how successful I'd be if I used a pipe expander on the cut end and slid that over the flange stub. That way I could assemble it on the car and clamp it up in the right position, welding round the join later. Or maybe it wouldn't need welding? Does this sound like a sensible plan?
Is a hand tool type pipe expander man enough to expand this kind of pipe, or will an exhaust fitters be better suited to do it?
