External wastegate and FMIC

Hey guys. Just wondering if its possible to fit an external wastegate using a hybrid turbo, and if so are there any benefits? i know that the turbo has an internal wastegate, but is it possible to by pass this if there are advantages in using external wastegates? also where do you get them and roughly how much? and also where are the best places to get front mount coolers from? quite fancy a Spec-R 1.

You only use an external wastegate when the turbo you are using requires that you use one... ie on large turbo applications... Smaller turbos can get away with using an internal wastegate...

Wastegate just holds boost and expels gases... There is no particular gain...

eg. running a GT3540R would require a custom tubular manifold and external wastegate...

Kl, cheers for that Rishi, a had a feeling it was just for bigger turbo applications. Hows your car coming along?

i was always under the impression that the larger external will allow big turbos to run lower boost levels when you so require them to do so.

the small internal gates wont allow enough exhaust gas to bypass the turbine and you´d get creep.
