Front Antiroll bar spacers

Ive been thinking if there would be any benefit and/or problem with putting a spacer under the front antiroll bar bushes.

I know that you can get the thicker roll bar from whiteline so im guessing that this would be in a similar vain but easier to change if required.

Am i right in thinking that the thicker roll bar gave better dry weather performance but tended to make the car more 'lively' in wet weather conditions.

Im not talking about major spacing either, only probably about 3mm max between the bushes and the body. If this is likely to improve the dry weather setup of the car then obviously its worth while doing especially for people doing track days etc and then if performance in the wet is affected then its not a major job to remove the spacers!

My car has already been set-up with about -1deg at the front wheels and the tracking is spot on.

Cheers

so what effect would spacers under the anti roll bar bushes do then, if anything!?!?!?!
You'd need longer bolts ;-)     .

I'm sure Jim will come along with some long winded response to your question soon enough mate    .

longer bolts, spacers and washers are easily accessible at work hence my curiousity as to what it will do!!!

would be good if it did sharpen up the front end but lets wait to see what jim says!!

spacers would fcuk up the action of the antirollbar.

Are you thinking of the same thing done to Mk1 and 2 Escorts? If so, that's a completely different thing. That alters the antidive, on an R it doesn't work like that.

One thing that everyone should do.......

Undo both links (that attach to the bottom arms), does your antiroll bar move freely?

It doesn't? i'm not surprised.....you need to undo both clamps and put waterproof grease (copperslip is ok to use) between the bush and the antiroll bar. Bolt the clamps back up.

Your antiroll bar should now move freely.

This will make the antiroll bar work correctly.
