Front wheel spinning only - visco problem ?

hi !

yesterday my car did a 12.2 on a non prepared track with street tyres.

we could see that only the front wheels were spinning.
and it was very very much.
there was no spinning on the rear.

it that normal ?
i remember that a friends car spins all 4.

i was told i might have a problem with the visco clutches.
and the power is not going to rears like it should.

where are this clutches ?
and are there any known problems ?

theres a post somewhere that explains how to check your transfer box, id check this first, as if theres a problem with it, youll only get drive to the front wheels

Just did a tarmac rally and suffered quite a lot of front wheelspin on the inner wheel(s) on slower corners. Obviously there is no special diff in service across the front wheels. Anybody care to comment? I'm new to 4wd, so don't really know.....

The front wheels do tend to spin, but it depends how much yours were spinning I guess.

What 60fts were you getting, if you were front wheel drive only I'd expect about 2.3upwards.

Depending on the surface with a hard enough launch you should be able to spin all four wheels, if just the fronts spin then id say there was a problem ;-)

This was with a 7000rpm launch :lol:

It does happen with open diff at the front, when this happens all the front power is transfered to the less restricted wheel which is spinning.

i got a group N gearbox installed.
and its working for 3 years now.
i didnt care about wheel spinning until last weekend.

what is an open diff ?
so i just need to exchange it with an original one ?
