I have just got the turbo mentioned in the title, yet it is without an actuator. Will the standard actuator fit and do the job? Or should i just get an upgraded actuator ?

Any help is appreciated

Nice turbo - I have this on mine with a 0.63 a/r, brilliant response and power capabilities.

I tried to use my existing std actuator which couldn't handle the extra boost I needed, so replaced it with a 1 bar Forge Actuator - another great piece of kit. Replace it with a decent aftermarket one, well worth the extra money.

With that turbo, 1.6 bar boost with 550cc inj & an Evo6 FMIC I'm running 380bhp/325 lbs ft torque!

i've been looking online, well ebay, can't find a forge one even though i have seen one recently. Been searching under the title for a "GT2871R actuator " but all i get is the usual Mamba crap or Kunigawa tripe.

Don, are you running a standard ECU and MAF @ that power? Not a criticism just curious as i have an after market ECU but a standard MAF. and gives me an idea of what to expect. Or not for that matter.

Cathode - Running a Dastek piggyback ECU with a Z32 MAF on there. Bearing in mind that it was done over 10 years ago it still works very well.
The restriction after uprating the turbo (on the intake side) is the maf and injectors. I guess new ECUs these days can use a different MAF as there's prob not too many Z32 ones about now lol, or could be mapped to use no MAF at all.

Check your original actuator for whether its bent or straight as the wrong one wont open fully.

Keastygtir - 1 bar is 14.7psi.

Some pics of the GT2871R . In respect to the standard turbo the snail has been clocked, which I quite like as I can run a shorter hot side pipe route space permitting. I've been Wd40-ing the bolts on the exhaust mani in the hope they'll give more easily when I try to transition the new turbo. God, I feel like this is taking forever!!! Pretty close now. Pic of engine in its current status. Built and timed up. Please excuse the mess!
