hi, i've been having a bit of trouble with my r, i've tried to fix this problem myself by changing various bits and bobs but nothing seems to have made a dirrerence so i've decided enough is enough and its time for a pro to take a look!!!! i'd be really grateful if anyone could recommend someone or somewhere for me to take it. i'm in the blackpool area so the closer the better, but i'd be willing to travel a bit if it meant me getting a good job done at a fair price. i don't want to get ripped off cos i know if it starts mounting up it'll cost me a fortune. cheers people:thumbsup:

Depends on the problem, tuning wise Hiteq in wigan have a good rep if they're still going (there was some confusion about that a while ago).

I always used to use Smiths in Bolton, they're used to working on a variety of performance cars including a few pulsars, but are a bit of a trek from your neck of the woods.

it idles at about1650rpm and when it gets warm it start to hesitate and doesn't pull smoothly. so fer this is what i've done if it helps
1. Replaced the throttle bodies
2. New spark plugs
3. New dizzy cap and rotor arm
4. Replaced the intercooler(old one had a hole in)
5. New ignition leads
6. Replaced the idle control valve
7. Replaced the coolant temp sensor
8. Changed the afm

Isn't 5-5 all clear?

Have you tried re-earthing the AFM as that can help with the hesitation.

What about an air leak, i believe there's a few ways you can test for leaks will try find the threads for you.

To be honest theres not alot of garages that know alot about the R, as Paz has said Smiths in Bolton are quite good with them, but if you can check and double check everything 1st, use a garage as a last resort.

yeah its coming up 5-5 now but at first it was 1-2, but i reset it and then it was fine. andy fubar nipped round the other week and he couldn't spot anything, he did say he's not an engine specialist or anything but he knows alot more than me so i'm stuck. how do you re-earth the maf?

So it was the MAF?
I might do mine too then - don't really have the same littany of woes, but I do think that the idle is a bit high sometimes, and every now and again when it's cold she start to hesitate.
