greddy emanage and welding question

Im going to be doing some welding on my car but want to know if disconnecting the battery whilst doing the welding is safe enough to stop the emanage ecu from getting damaged or should i actually unplug it from the loom. if i do disconnect it from the loom will it lose its map?

just dis-connect the earth strap from batt, that will be fine matey
