Intercooler/chargecooler?

I'm looking for some input on an idea I had!

I have been trying to think of some ways to lower the air temp of the intake charge and came up with this:

Most people put water spray on their air/air intercoolers to make them more efficient. Now, I was considering just using a charge cooler with no air/air intercooler but decided this would probably not be sufficient on its own so then I thought have both, a front mount and a charge cooler but the extra pipe work and pressure drop would not be doing me any favours but then I came up with this idea, if I put a charge cooler between the air filter and the turbo this will then lower the intake air meaning that when it gets heated by the turbo it will not be as hot on the charge side. Then I will run a front mount air/air intercooler as well to drop the charged air temp even further and as we all know cooler air means more power and less chance of detonation!!

So what do you guys think?

The air being sucked into the turbo is at ambient temperature.A good chargecooler will cool post turbo air to at best.....ambient temperature. So fitting it before the turbo will not cool it down,if anything it will warm it up via heat absorbed from engine bay by the cooler.
You dont need a chargecooler and and a front mount-fmic is good enough on its own for 99% of cases.

True, didn't really think of that!

So the next question is this:

What would be better, a front mount or a charge cooler?

Has anyone seen the chargecooler made from the standard intercooler?. Sits in the same position etc, but the intercooler is surrounded with alloy sheet welded onto end tanks and has an 'in' and 'out' for the water flow and a water/air radiator at the front in the bumper. Pace must have made it, because the pump was Pace and the rad at the front.

A mate had one on his UK R, was done years ago, when the car was nearly new I would imagine. From memory it was like it for 6 years before he bought it (and that was a couple of years ago).

Seems starnge looking back now, was very rare then, well modded car, HKS bov, HKS induction, chargecooler, quick shift, HKS evc3, paddle clutch, pacific motorsport exhaust, 17's, etc. The previous owner had it up for sale for £12500, this was just around the time the imports came flooding in, my mate bought it a few months later for £7800 IIRC.

Slight tangent, lol:D
