Intercooler questions

I've half fitted my FMIC today, basically the pipes are in place now and ready for the cooler to be correctly fitted, the cooler is a XSPower one from ebay, was imported from USA, I researched the item and it seemed pretty decent especially for the price.

Bit annoyed with what I got however, no instructions, "samco" (not samco hosting - but you will know what i mean when i call it that ;)) hosing x4, but only 2 fitted correctly and the stupid mounting brackets don't fit correctly.

So 1) can I buy samco hosing from anywhere? B&Q, Motorworld, etc?

2) The kit came with alot of red hoses that are thin, what do I do with these?

And 3) How should I mount the cooler? I need some brackets of some kind but not sure which etc, there is one hole on top of the cooler to mount some kind of bracket, then there are two holes each side on the bottom?

Any help appreciated.

Yeah I've done that fella, I'm talking about the the brackets that hold the cooler up...Normally bolted to the bottom of the chassis

I've cut the bumper re-inforcer all along the middle, the cooler fits in fine, just trying to make brackets for it etc proving to be a bastard.

You recokon i can get the samco silicon tubing from b&q??

If the bottom two brackets are staright they will need bending to the right shape to fit two spare bolt holes that are in the underside of the front bar that the rad sits it, Mine has two holes on top as well but if you only have one it will do the same job, You will need to drill a hole in the top of the bumper bar and bolt through it to mount the cooler.

Yes, air con has gone...

Pics courtesy of Binny, but the bracket he is using I think I need but how has he bolted the brackets to the chassis? using nut and bolts? how could I get the bolts on the other end of the nut?

Cheers

I bought this intercooler too. I found the fitting kit was a waste of time i had to make a similar bracket to yours on the bottom of the intercooler. Ideally i would prefer the intercooler wasnt so thick and as u said the silicone hoses are crap, also the hose clips are too small to go round the hoses! For the price of it i have a cheek to complain!

Hi dude,

The red pipe you get in the kit gos from the inlet manifold to the boost solenoid, also the brakets that are for the top of the cooler its self just make it site prouder out of the bumper (but there not needed just drill the bumper iron and use the boilts in the kit )

the way you should have it mouthed under the car is like this

(sorry for big pic)
you can get samco from most tuners and its about £21.00

cheers Lionel.

ps if you need help just ask mate
