Knocking sound - engine bay

I've just met up with BenD and after a small rag and a fast roundabout theres an intermittant knock in his car. It sounds like its coming from the back-passenger side of the engine bay. It knocks twice and then doesn't do it for like a minute and then does it again.

Anyone have any idea what it could be? Hopefully its not to expensive for him!
