Limits of top end power for a Pulsar

I don't wish to be another on of "those" threads. I haven't seen any Pulsars with over 400hp (might of missed them). What I was wondering was why there haven't been many geting over and beyond this power, is there a reason why thte engine can't be tuned to produce more like the EVOS etc or are the parts just not avaliable???

You haven't looked very hard then:p There's quite a few of them on here.
Highest proven power in this country so far is 610+ bhp and that should be beaten by a couple of people if they can walk the walk:lol:

Just about anything with a GT3071R turbo has 400bhp +

We don't need all that power anyway, 450 is enough for low 11s in a Gtir. 10sec has been done to death now. (well by 1 Gtir, once at least, in Scotland:lol: )

Well that put me in my place LOL Glad to hear they are out there

Were these cars tuners cars?? anyone got any info links please

Nope, not enough money in it for the tuners so they wouldn't be interested.

The 610+ was built with the aid of one, but all the owners own money as far as I know.

we have to do most stuff ourselves. There's a couple of good Gtir tuners out there, but no demo cars by them.

One of our longer standing members had been running 400hp on standard internals for a long while too.

There seems to be quite a few cars in that range now and as many not far behind. From my experience I'd say +400hp is a pretty well trodden path.

If you look above 500 then the numbers rapidly drop away to a handful of hardcore determined individuals

When i first bought mine anything with about 380 bhp was considered something special, now anybody can get that and even 400 bhp is easily reached without too much hassle 8)

Bhp figures in the low 400's are all you'll ever need for a road car ;-) Once you start getting over 450 bhp then you start losing reliability of the car and it'll be less drivable too ;-)

But more of a Subaru specialist I believe, certainly not a Gtir tuner that would spring to mind if you were asked to list 10 of them. (if there even is 10)

400 will do me (that what they all say). So who are some of the tuners then (yes I'm new to the GIT-R)

Hiteq, DPMotorsports,Norris Designs, RCDevelopments, Power Station do some stuff, GTArt, Abbey etc

1st 3 are the main Gtir guys,.

iirc that might be Bren from Apex who has an engine around that area - I’ve personally heard from a number of people that there are a few 200SX's knocking around with 500-600+ SR20 engines :eek:hwell:

I'm sure there's more to it than that and they'll be something that hinders RNN14 models because of its age. I'd like to see more dedicated GTiR's for the track and strip, just a shame that there's not that much development research going into them.

there are 1000bhp sr20det's

the problem with the pulsar is the transmission, once you sort that, the engine when worked properly is plenty good enough for more than enough power

problem comes down to money...£5k plus for gearbox, £1k plus for a clutch, £1k for diffs if you can find them new, 1-2k for prop, upto £6k for driveshafts.

at cheapest a decent transmission set up, that should take the power you can get from the engine and actually put it onto tarmac is going to cost you approx. 8k

most owners wont spend that kind of money, thus very few dedicated drag cars.....infact none at this precise moment of time.

theres plenty of research work going into them, you just have to know where to look and who to talk to...

The only real limit to the amount of power you can get out of your SR20 is the size of your bank account, End of discussion    ....
