1)Try hitting 60 in 2nd. You have a close ratio box if it won't.
2) Ask the previous owner

What speed would I get in 2nd then if not 60?

Are we talking like 55mph, or a noticable diffrence?

Thanks

My RB close ratio box hits about 55ish at 7500rpm in 2nd and topped out at 123mph at just over 7500rpm according to Datron timing gear.

Non standard could also be a Quaiffe with or without standard ratios, Par, PPG or Becker. What exactly do you mean by non standard?

Just out of interest, how many rpm does the standard RA and RB gearbox drop the engine when changing up ?

Mine is as follows:

1st to 2nd= 1250 rpm
2nd to 3rd= 1000 rpm
3rd to 4th= 750 rpm
4th to 5th= 750 rpm

How does the Quaife C/R change this ?

Dunno, I'm normally going to fast to see

Marc, it's possible you may have a standard box still.
