Loctite

I was reading and article somewhere online (just remembered it was the ARP site) a few weeks ago that was suggesting that 99% of apparent rod failures were due to poorly torqued down rod bolts, because there poorly torqued down over a period of time the bolt work themselves loose and that when the damage occurs.

So I was wondering if it was worth putting loctite thread adhesive on the nuts when torqueing down.

Against,
Loctite tends to go hard and brake off these small pieces in your engine could cause disaster.

I was just wondering if you have bits flaking off, you are not using the loctite correctly, loctite works when the air is taken away from the liquid hence it should only have a little bit of loctite between the two mating surfaces.

If you read the technical data on loctite it states to weaken/soften the loctite once hard you apply heat therefore when your engine reaches operating temperature the loctite is soft and not working, pretty much pointless imo
