maf mesh question

My mate has a Z32 maf and we took it off his intake pipe the other day and the mesh had split from the edge on over half the maf :shock:

does the mesh actually do anything to help the maf or help get its readings and can he just rip it out and fit some new mesh in place :?:

yeh we hoped it was just a filter to stop crap getting through :wink:

I took all the mesh off mine, I read on the 300zx board that it improves airflow like 15% or something ( and I suppose they guys know what their talking about seeing as its their AFM ) :shock:

Its only there to stop stones and stuff from damaging the element, if you have an airfilter fitted already then its not a problem.... 8)

I read in Autospeed that when removed it inreased airflow 17%, rip it out. Also if it improves airflow that much it might be worth getting it maped again. If you do, do a before and after test.

good job i got a nice big Q45 maf don't need to rip the mesh off rubbish :lol: :lol: :wink:
