I heard somewhere ages ago that the full Mongoose stainless exhaust has a lifetime guarantee, does anyone know if theis is true.

Doing an oil change today (on the driveway and started raining as soon as I took the fookin wheel off :x :x :x ) I noticed that one of the rings going round the end of the flexi section had rusted so badly it was about to fall off. The pipes under the rest of the car look fine but the flanges also look rusty, the system is only about 4 yrs old, is anybody elses like this??

yep this is the story with mine

bought the R, it had a goose on it for about 13months before i got the car

2 weeks after i had it, the baffle section went

called/emailed mongoose, they said ONLY if i have the orginal reciept and i was the oringal purchaser of the goose then i culd get one BUT

would ahv to send it back to them at H.O then they decide if it gets replaced

so in the end just gave up and bought a new baffle section

they are shite at customer care

it does have a lifetime warranty thou

Cheers Matt, I'll investigate this tomorrow. I'm not the original customer but I do have a receipt from the garage that fitted it, so I might be able to swing something  maybe.

I was told when I had mine fitted you had to be the original customer for this to take effect.I kept my receipt just in case.

I think terms like this are pathetic really as transferring ownership shouldn't affect warranties/service.Especially on things like Trackers where you can pay a oneoff lifetime subscription but if you sell the car,it's cancelled.Maybe an administration charge to amend details, but not cancellation.

might be worth a phone call to your local trading standards office.then you'll know for sure exactly what are your legal rights.sometimes it's worth saying "i'll just check what you say with trading standards"

I'd like to keep my receipt, but despite repeated requests for one from the person (on the forum) I bought it off, I never got one. So if mine rusts through I'll have to buy a new one.

Umm, I phoned them and did get a result after spending best part of an hour making the right noises (I did do part of a law degree) and eventually speaking to a Big Wig, but they are a slippery as a sh1t snake.

It would appear that they do have a "Lifetime Guarantee" if you have the original receipt and your name is on the ticket, BUT the word lifetime is very ambiguous, lifetime of what exactly, how long is a piece of string, very clever.

Trading standards weren't interested either.

But I did get quiet a good result though and will let you all know if I take them up on there very kind offer.

Quite... cracked it there mate...

Lifetime of what??

The exhaust is guaranteed for it's lifetime probably. So when it rust through in 2 years they just say, it's at the end of it's life.

Still keeping my recipt mind :)

Cheers

Having the same problem - my tailpipe section started rattling so took it back to the garage that put it on. They ordered a new bit and fitted it :!: BUT :!: apparently Mongoose changed the design slightly just after I bought mine and the redesigned tailpipe doesn't fit properly. Cue haggling about whats covered by the warranty..... :(
