just started my car up and was greeted with a loud clunk and the sound of my exhaust blowing like mad at the front.
after looking to see what it was, i noticed that the elbow pipe on the side of the turbo thats held on with 5 nuts, had dropped off. the i noticed that the side of my alternater that faces the turbo had melted and left a few holes in the metal. alll the wires around it had melted too and so had the fan wires.
could this be caused by the exhaust blowing before it dropped off or is there a heatshield missing somewhere. or could it be something else?
