The Setup
I've been meaning to give the nissan sunny a bit of abuse for a while now and was given the chance this evening by a true nobber in a rich prickolio mobile who thought he was king of the road.. o contrair monsoer. It was late this evening and i was travelling down a local bit of bipass looking forward to travelling up my favorite hill from marlow to maidenhead, its steep twisty and difficult to get right, it also scares me quite a bit.. so i really really like going up as quick as i can, and have been on it regularly since i was born, because my gran lived in wycombe.
So when i get near the end of the bipass i like to have a clean run at it, cos most people go up it very very slowly.. i'm in the inside lane approaching the roudabout at the bottom, and there has been these set of halon lights following for a bit getting steadily closer but not pulling in to the inside lane.. we get to the braking zone and i know he wants to come past and go up the hill so i don't brake, car in the other lane so he's going to have to slow up and pull in behind me..
BUT OOOOOOO NOOOOO.. he wants past so he dives down the outside but i'm not braking i'm just minding my own business waiting for my rather late braking point..as he nearly rear ends the car in the outside lane who was going right for marlow, I look to my right and think wonder what this is.. tell tale vents just behind the front wheel arch... hmm this should be interesting.. i know your going up the hill now and you nearly slammed into a car because you assumed i would brake and you could cupt me up. He was a t0sser.. lets see if you can keep up.. er i mean.. i can get away untill your masses of power comes into play.. now bearing in mind this little sunny really does corner quite well and i have been practicing loosing the back end alot recenty so know where the limit is.. and if you keep it in the 5000-6500 red line area.. its not too shy.. and this hill is a true leveller.. you have to link all the corners together or no ammount of power and torque will get you up there at any great rate.
The Chase
so he now has to pull in behind and is probably cursing i take the left across the clear roundabout (thinking gotta get a shift on now he's gonna be pissed!!)and then the right over the dodgy area of tarmac sliding gently into the second crawler lane and start the first climb up to an open left hander, glancing just before the straight, he's still pulling out of the junction gap... 60 yards tops.. but he's chasing, cos by the time i enter the first corner.. way way too fast with the back end really complaining, its half that.. and i was already touching 7000rpm.. and thats not the last time i ignore the red on the tacho..
next is two rights with bad bad surface.. i'm ok in the first but the second is tighter and i'm completely on the limit and sliding rapidly towards the bank.. he's still not caught up.. so i am doing ok although he is there about 60 yards back.. The last corner before the crest is a left and i dive in really just hoping to get round. but she does... as i go over the brow the road is still clear ahead, with my relief i glance behind and he is still behind at about...
oops forgot to change into 3rd.. 7200 rpm.. wonder if the head gasket will blow.. ahh really don't care. as long as he doesn't get past
.. now were on the flat he's gonn catch me up.. there is an overtaking spot through a wiggle about 500 m on and another couple of slight lefts..
round the first left and he comes over the brow so i recon i can scamper for the next set of bends before he gets me.. nope. theres an escort .. funs over.. unless i meet him just at the perfect time and its clear.
the overtake
the timing was off and i had to slow up and wait for the final left before it was clear to continue on my trek so i slow up and approach the ford waiting for the kink and line of sight. its on.. and ...now your gonna be able to guess what kind of car it is from the next comment, the car behind has caught me .. he/she/it is no more than .. mmm 2cm from my bumper.. so that got me a little .. angry. i see the lines change to dots and pull out.. much to his surprise.. i know whats ahead.. he's just a little surprised to see me continue on my way past.. so he gives me some main beam. t0sser.. now i'm a little more vexed and its my favorite bend coming up.. blind flat left hander which my sister taught me to go fast round in her mini... he .. and bearing in mind i timed it and you can get one car through.. follows.. with main beam still on.. dangerous manouver.. pot kettle black. cough.. don't care.. slight kink right .. still panning the balls off the engine.. he is still with me.. and into the left hander... lifted.. but didn't brake.. really not ever been through here this fast .. even in the r.. but have 195's on so i recon i'll be ok.. he's not into cornering at that speed so i gain a good 30 yards on him.
the finish.
back off.. lauging my head off into the right hander as there is a big straight ahead and he can do what he wants.. laughed and laughed and laughed.. he zoomes up my arse and sits there .. but doesn't go past.. 40 in a 60.. he pulls off to the left at the next junction.. so he was a local.. no excuse.. he drives like a t0sser on the main roads, and can't keep up with a 1.6 (loony powered) sunny on the twisties..
I sold the gtir before i killed myself .. and the plan has gone a little bit wrong, as now i have to work twice as hard a to make the same bunch of rich twits look bad.. gonna have to sell my car and start walking instead.
