Oil Temp gauge

Recently my mates Oil Temp gauge stopped working,
whats the location of the oil temperature sensor on the engine to check its connected there before he removes the dash to get to the back of the gauge! :?:

Depends what guage it is mate, to my knowledge all HKS ones for instance have the sensor as a sump plug replacement item 8)
