put the head on with out checking tdc

If all the marks on my cams are in the same place as in the picture in the manual
And the distributor is set at the correct angle as in picture

will piston one be set in tdc.

Or have i got to go through the shity job of taking it all apart again

no, your cams will be at TDC but not you piston, just take the plug out no1 cylinder, and put a long screw driver or piece of welding wire round, then turn the crank till the piston is at its highest point, this is TDC. most engines have a mark on the crank pulley for this, im not sure if the sr20 does, someone else may know. but if there is no mark just do what i said before.

just looked at the picture, the 2nd pic down is the crank pulley, get the notch on that lined up with the pin, as in the pic.
