pistons rings and head gasket

hi i would like to put a set of uprated pistons with new rings and a head gasket. where is the best place to get these from and how much will i be looking at spendin please also how do i what thickness headgasket i will need? thanks do you think i can do it for less than a grand?

pistons you should pm mr-gtir (andy chan) about and he'll sort you out.

it will easily be under 1k my rods and pistons were less than 1k

as for the headgasket it all depends on what compression ratio you want to aim for

it will be under a grand if you do it yourself, remember if you get forged pistons the block will need machining to fit them. pistons from andy cost about 360quid (v good price) head gasket from somewhere like takakaira is bout 150quid, and maching will set you back prob 100quid, unless you know a nice engineer!

is it not possible to to get pistons to match original spec so just to hone the bores ?

no because forged pistons expand differently to cast pistons.

i had 86mm pistons fitted after one of the ring lands failed on the standards, from what your saying should i have gone to 87mm? The tolerance levels stated by hks were ok.
