Problems after fitting FMIC

O.k, today I had the pleasure of fitting my front mount and removing the air con while I was at it
After fitting the front mount I now have 2 pipes left over which used to go on to the TMIC. What does everyone else do with these :?: I now have a lot more lag  . It used to sit at -5 on idle but now it's -15 on the boost gauge. Also I removed the bracket behind the oil cooler but what did you front mounters do with your wires and the brass thingy

Do you think the extra lag may be caused by these left over pipes not being connected :?: I was expecting a bit more lag but not that much  - Pics below:

pipe that connected to the top part of the TMIC

pipe that connected to the bottom part of the TMIC

wires and brass whatever it is :D

Also I fitted the smaller belt for the alternator which I looked up on here and got the 845E from halfrauds - The belt seemed to be 2 ridges thinner  . Will this be o.k or will it end up breaking :?:

Cant get the pics to work :? But it sounds like you're on about the actuator pipes cos thats the only ones that would alter the vacuum reading  Does one of them go to the plenum :?:

What boost is it running :?: It usually overboosts when these are left unconnected and i'd connect them back together as soon as possible.

I woudnt worry about the belt  My alternator belt is narrower and its a Nissan belt.

Cutting and pasting don't work for me mate, I just get a big white box with the litle picture icon in it :( .

Are the two pipes that used to be on the TMIC the small ones that used to go onto a metal pipe fixed to the intercooler frame? If so, just join them together.

I think the thinner belt is ok, the extra ribs are to cope with the aircon compressor load.

Damn! Beaten by a MarkTurbo :D

Also, the wires and brass thingy sound like your wastegate control valve. If you still have standard boost control you'll need to leave these alone, otherwise they can be removed.

thanks for the replies, They are the 2 thin pipes that used to connect to the top mount intercooler. They are the only 2 hoses that connect to it. So just joining these together should be o.k. :?:

Mark, it's running 1 bar boost and was fine till I fitted the FMIC  but maybe joining those pipes together will help.

:D

Yep, just join them up  Job done 8)

So was it still only running 1 bar with the pipes disconnected :?: When i forgot to connect mine back up my car was running 1.4 bar

Mark, What are these 2 pipes for :?:
Surely they must have a purpose :!: I was running 1.6 bar with the pipes unjoined
I'm gonna join em up today

If you take a look at your top mount frame... under the right hand side there is a metal pipe through the frame itself, the pipes just plug onto each end of that...

so just connect em to each other, or run a new single piece of pipe from the plenum

forgot to say.... the purpose of the pipe is to deliver boost to the actuator.

Without it connected the wastedate will only open once the boost pressure is enuff to push it open.

just find something to re-connect it with,

you might be able to use the old pipe that went through the top mount frame

you can get straight thru pipe connectors from any halfrauds or motor spares place.

just get a male to male tube connector. if theres not enough pipe then buy some more and 2 m2m connectors and connect them that way. even some screenwash pipe will work. 8)

yeah, like toady said, any old bit of pipe will work, as long as it is air tight
Get and do it quick, otherwise your next post may be in the "wanted to buy (engine)" section
