I HAVE READ THAT SKYLINE INTERCOOLERS WORK VERY WELL ON THE GTIR AND BEING THAT SO MANY SKYLINE OWERS UPGRADE I AM THINKING OF FITING ONE TO MY GTIR.

CAN ANYONE HELP WITH WHICH MODEL IS BETTER TO GET R33 OR R34 :?:

ALSO ANY ADVICE FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE WOULD BE GREAT IN HELPING ME MOUNT IT AND DO THE CORRECT PIPE RUN.

I HAVE READ ON HERE IN THE PAST OF AN OWNER DOING THIS BEFORE AND THAT HE HAD WRITTEN A GUIDE BUT I AM UNABLE TO FIND IT.

THANKS

R33 is the best out of the 3 as it has welded end tanks. I havent done my pipe run yet though.

Hi,
Im half way through the installation myself. This is not a straight foreward bolt on install there is quite alot of things you have to do luckly im an Engineer with access to a welding shop if you havent it could prove costly, also all the pipe run manufacturers that I rang previously to making my own setup said that they were to busy to make the pipework for weeks PM me if you require anymore info.

i've got the R33 cooler on mine, and i'm trying to sort some pic's out,
if you's want the measurements for the pipe work i can measure them up at the weekend and post them up,

did you get your pipe work made up mate, coz the company who done mine was AAS performance in newcastle and they made it up within a week of asking them to do it.

nice one mate 8)

what diameter pipe work you going for, mines all 80mm which i thought was gonna be too much but it's fine, it'll never be short of charge anyways.

Went for 60mm dia had some aluminium cone reducers made to my drawings and cut back and welded onto the 80mm R33 cooler. Just slash cut the aluminium turbo pipe and turned it through 90 deg rewelded.

Hi Si..

I would be very grateful if you could post up some details of your pipework and position you mounted the intercooler as you mentioned in an earlier thread.

Both me and my old man will do the fitting and i also have a retired engineer living next door who likes to help out. Luckly both my neighbour and his son are specialist who have all the equipment in the garage to bend and weld etc all metal work.

You stated that 80mm fits perfectly, i have read somewhere that 60mm is the best. What diameter are people using.

Thanks for the help

Damian :D

you'll probs find most of the kits forge etc are 60mm, i'm not really sure why 80mm was used i just let him get on with it , i'm waitng on a digi cam then i'll get some pics sorted out and measure the pipe work and the bends etc, the only problem i've had with it is one of the pipes is dangerously low to the ground, and at 1.5 bar one connection has blown off a couple of times. :(

What ive done is on the stainless tube ,welded a small bar around it to act as a swage to stop the pipe blowing off, also the best clamps to use are Mikalor I just went for the Supra(£34.00) as I couldnt afford £90 for supra Pro ,10 clamps
Si youve probabally got 80mm because thats the exit and entry (standard size) of the R33,
