Repackable Silencer?

I have a mongoose system with 3" down-pipe,
I like to do trackdays but it is just over 101db which can be
an issue at some circuits so I was thinking of getting the
cherrybomb type silencer taken out of the goose and replace with
a repackable sliencer. The big question is do you think I will lose power??
The exhaust company doing the work say it won't??

I have considered a track day exhaust silencer but they look unsightly

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul.

That could be an idea but, I was looking to quieten for day to day use too.
Not sure if the lagging will work well enough??
The goose can be very loud in built up areas especially on full boost
I would like to tame it down a little too.

it was slightly more than that  after not driving the car for 6 or seven months i was a little stunned at how bloody loud it is even with the 3.5inch tail, im not even sure i can get on a local track with it like this...:hurt:

sorry K9ng :focus:

I have the 3.5" tailpeipe,
I am getting http://www.simpsonraceexhausts.com/ there work is
top notch they made up a nice system for my Audi S4 sounds
brilliant at 1.7 bar of boost  and can still get on track.

I was just wondering if I would notice any power loss with fitting a repackable
silencer?

I was quoted the price of a new Goose system
I could go to powerflow and get a load of shite but I suppose
you get what you pay for. Will let you know how I get on in a couple of weeks.

I have just fitted an Apexi active tail silencer. it cost £100 but is totaly track legal, on tick over and no boost running it sounds like a factory exhaust but with high revs and load/boost nearly as loud as before. When i want to remove it all i do is remove 1 pin and it slides out. I agree they dont look pretty though, a bit chavvy if i am honest!

What system are you using the active silencer with?
Also if it is as loud when on boost then on track the drive-by
sound meter will catch me out!

i have a JASMA system but it looks exactly the same as the 5zigen one. It was just too loud before, you couldnt hear the radio at anything over 30 mph. as per the boost level, it gets progressivly louder as the revs and boost increase. even on full boost though it is quieter than before. These are recomended by other clubs specificaly for track day use. It is a strange noise as up to 4k it sounds like a stock system, then to 6k the level climbs quickly to the max noise on the limiter. to be honest i do miss the noise a bit, perhaps i am getting old!
