Rod change through sump?

Hello everyone

I am wondering if it's posible to change the conecting rods through the
oil sump?
Then i would save me from a whole lot of work removing the head.

The reason I am just changing the rods, is that I alredy have
forged pistons, tomei head gasget etc. So it vould be great if
the rods/pistons could be removed from down under.

i recon it might be a bit hard getting the circilips out of the piston if the piston was still in the bore. tho i dont really know as i havent taken a sr20det apart before, but taken a few other engines apart in the past.

You have to press out the pins that hold the piston on anyway so even if you could get the circlips off it wouldnt matter ;-)

You cant take the pistons out from the bottom either like on some engines :doh:

Hmmm. I would have to say that you cant fit the pistons out without the head off, you would at least have to remove the crankshaft, which means removal of the gearbox. however its worth removing the sump to check as this is a easy job and you will have to remove it anyway.GED
