Can anyone recommend a couple of good RR tuning shops close by to me (I am in Kent)?

GTi-R could do with new plugs and a bit of a tweak after after a FMIC was fitted.

Abbey Motorsport is probably your best bet. I'm gonna try Engine Advantages in Witham, Essex in October. Just to make sure I'm not leaning out or have too much advance for my 1 bar set up !

what mods are you running- if you've got no boost or fueling mods then the only thing they can do is adjust the timing.

abbey are good, but expensive £100 for the first hour and the £60 every hour after that iirc. worth it if you're having a full mapping session but not just to have a timing check and power run

power engineering are near heathrow.

Have you guys use TDI in Dagenham?? I used to go there with my Supra Turbo, but they didn't seem too interested in the GTi-R so I lost a bit of faith in them...........

Power Engineering were good when I had an RS Turbo, they are supposed to know a bit about the 'R as well. I wouldn't particularly recommend TDI.

Have you had a bad experience with TDI ??? They are pretty big headed, but did a good job of squeezing loads of bhp out of the supra... :D

Andygtir, my mods are 1 bar boost (bleed valve), turbo back system, K&N induction and a front mount IC. Car was set up at Power Station and then checked at Abbey prior to the FMIC being fitted. Also, I will be putting some new iridum plugs (which are best??) in so now want to be sure all is OK after FMIC & plugs in.......

Does this just need a timing check then??? :?

Have you heard of GDA in Tunbridge Wells - apparently he is a specialist.........

i think denso heat range 8 are recomended, i got mine fromsrb power but theirs cheaper places, jeff

Akroblade: The only thing that a tuner could adjust on an R without aftermarket ecu or fuel/ignition computers is the base timing. I wouldn't bother with it if you have already had it set for 1 bar. Unless you want to raise the boost.
As for plugs, I use Denso's also. I got mine from www.sparkplugs.co.uk Email them and say you want a grade cooler than standard, I think IK22's, they will do the rest. They were about £45 all in. All the other tuners plugs i.e. Blitz, Hks etc.. are just re-badged and over priced NGK or Denso plugs :wink:

Pete-R: Engine Advantages no is as follows: 01375 502522. I got there details from Xtreme Scoobies near Boreham. Thought I would give them a try. Strange this is, Essex turbo's are in the lock up next to them. I have the car booked in for 13/10 so, will let you know how I get on.

mate if i were you i would get a bigger fuel pump- (walbro), a electronic boost controller and some sort of fueling controller either a piggyback like the apexi safcII or a fully mapable ecu like the power fc, then take it to a rolling road to get mapped- they could then map for up to 1.4bar if you want, but even with a front mount they cant really do anything more on your set up as it is.

to get the timing checked- just find somone with a timing gun- standard is 20degrees for the pulsar- mine was retarded to 18degrees to run safely on optimax.

Have ordered some denso IK24 's, which are one grade colder than the stock recommended IK22 's - BTW, denso recommend IK22's (ie standard temp rating) for up to 350bhp on our cars if used on the road due to the 24's being more prone to fouling. Decided to go with general opinion on here though 8)

Already have a Walbro pump. this has created the common fuel surge problem that is soon on the list to sort out. It is pretty bad on my car as it cuts out and pops and bangs :oops: round hard left handers, even with just over half a tank of Optimax.....

Will be looking into an electronic boost controller and a fuel controller too. Thanks for the advice on the set up - it seems I would have been wasting money at this point in time :lol:
