Short shift

I bought one of these off this very person from Ebay. Was a top item makes a cool difference. Was dead easy to fit though you do need to get underneath the car and fitted straight on. He even sent me some instructios that were really easy to follow. Never seen the B&M one but for the money you'll probably pay through Ebay I'd say it's definately worth it.

a few of the oz guys have em (myself inc)
they seem ok, smoother change, shorter shift
but sometimes hard to shift when box is still cold (lower fulcrum point means more pressure req'd)
and one of us has broken one...

(but for the price...)

and seems to be a few people selling them now...

Yeah I have that one it cost me $20 + $20 shipping if you want it you can have it for £30 posted, As I'v ordered a B&M for $140 instead  ,
It will work ok with a little work mut I'm very picky with my car and I try not to cut corner's to much.

I've got a B&M in mine, absolutely extortionate price but works really well and very good quality. If anything, i'd say it too short though and makes gear changes about the same time as you have to change gears slower

Don't think I'd buy one again, but its only personal preference on the shift rate being too small.

everyone i know just used a smaller bolt instead

unfortunately this allows a bit of movement
(although you only notice it when stationary really)

but easier and cheaper to source than new bearings/bushes...
(and obvbiously if you are buying these cheapness is your friend)

I have had an opportunity to have a goo dlook at the snapped shifter.

from what I saw they are not made to well as it looked like it had been cracked for some tine and just pivoted on the center slowly breaking through until it completly snapped.

I suggest anyone using one to keep an eye on it last thing you want to do is be driving along and have the shifter snap.

Shalom you said there was some play when its stationary check to see that it hasn't cracked and the play is it just pivoting.

Sam.

I thought after seeing this thread and relisizing the first link from caleb was to my auction i would give some info.

I supply the shifter with all the required parts for fitting, nuts bolts washers, spacers etc. Which you will find arnt supplied in the other auctions.

The shifter mentioned in the first post isnt billet alluminium as the ones shalom talks about are, and wont break, it is forged chromolly steel with a chrome plated finish. This was changed due to the problems mentioned.

P.S Caleb if you wanna contact me by pm email, i would be willing to sell one at an owners club discount direct ;-)

Cheers Guys
