Took my old engine apart at the weekend and got a few questions.

Does the R head have double valve springs as standard?

Do standard pistons have markings on them, mine has 54 J or something like that (Cant remember exactly)?

Ive still got markings on the bores which look like they'd have come from honeing. I wouldnt have thought these would have still been there as the engines done a fair bit of mileage. Anyone else seen a simlar thing?

Finding out whats wrong with it then putting it back together.

What about the valve springs?

Leak down test showed a problem on the inlet of cylinder 1. Head gasket was fine, pistons seem fine, so its a case of dismantling the head now.
