steerin rack ?

Hey folks a newbie here, need some advice! just bought my first pulsar car is in good nick for the year but lately the steering wheel has developed some slight play, about 1/2 inch in either lock also the wheel shakes quiet alot around 80 mph! thinking so far that its pobably a steering rack and get the tracking done what do you guys think,NEED HELP

Steering wheel play should be less than 38mm. It might just be the wheels need balancing.

cheers just had new alloys put on the car so will get that checked too

The wheel wobble will be a balancing problem not tracking. If you go faster you should be able to drive through the wobble i.e. it will stop at say 90 ish.

Steering rack wise, check that the clamps and straps are tight as these ive known to work loose on other cars, then the steering goes really sloppy lol.
