my car needs to be moved like 2 miles up the road to have the pedal box welded , but i have no tow bar on front and am not going to fork out £75 for a low loader , so question is would it be safe to tow from the crossmember for this short journey as i dont really want to be shutting engine down to restart in second everytime i get stopped in traffic or at lights,
towing ?

I would worry that the tow rope might damage the front bumper other than keeping the speed to a minimum i dont see it to be a problem .
