transfer box ????

Hi All

Soon as i get the car back on the road i need to sort a noise whining noise out i think its on the front gearbox or trans box.

So soon as i have the money i was thinking of buying another trans box to see if that solves it, but my question is can i do that with engine and gearbox in place ??? as if i have to lower everything i might give it a miss for now as time and money is gettin short due to moving into my own place with gf.

You can do it with your engine and box in but its a **** of a job ;-)
Prop off,front pipe off,drive shafts out, drain oils, Y bracket? starter off, about 4 brackets off, gear selector linkage off. Think you need to lower the engine a bit to get it clear to come out? You can pull the diff out so it clears the box easier.

There might be a better way of doing it but thats off the top of my head.
