Why is this happening

HI

finished putting my engine in yesterday.

turned it over and the fans turned on.
lefted it runing and they dont turn off

What could it be ?

you dont think you could have put a connection on wrong do you??
i think the temp sensor for the fans is above the oil filter area there is about 3-4 connections in that area.

seen this before on r and it could be your ecu.might be not recongising input from sensor or similar, does she run? any other problem ( irratic idle etc) the fan are controlled by either fan switch or ecu, are both fan on continuse?

engine managment temp sensor defo connected cos if the brain don't see a temp reading then will default to put fans on, to safe guard the engine i believe. 8)

it is the water temp sensor that is in the wrong place (i think) where is it.
is it the blue sensor above the oil filter and under the throttle cable area?

check your oil temp on tickover to see if its going up high. if it is then pull off the bottom hose to the heater matrix and i bet it will swallow some more water. this also happened to me after my rebuild.just keep an eye on your oil temp :wink:

are your heaters warm?

the temp sender thats above the oil filter on the water pipe is just for the gauge thats on your dash... the main ecu temp sender is on the......... erm........... hang on ill just go have a look :oops:
