Finally taken the plunge

I've wanted an R since i was 19 (24 now) and for one reason or another have always put it off. The thought of huge fuel and repair bills always in the back of my mind. Now i'm a little older and can afford to have a weekend car i've taken the plunge.

I've just taken delivery of a totally standard M reg GTiR and i'm a pretty happy bunny.

As with most of these cars, it comes with it's own little problems .. the main being the clutch has a little mind of it's own. Every now and again it will hit the deck until you pump it a little and it comes back to life. Having done some research it seems that is down to a master or slave cylinder fault so will spend the weekend getting my hands dirty and trying to figure out the cause. Starting with bleeding the thing..

I actually plan on keeping the thing relatively standard, i want to use it on track so will be definitely improving brakes and spending some time/money on handling but other than that i'm happy with it how it is. I've had high horse power cars in the past, and it's hardly ever exploited on the road so seems a little pointless we shall see.

Looking forward to getting out in it over the summer!

If your planning on tracking it then I would suggest 4 pots, an oil cooler and some gauges to keep an eye on things suck as oild pressure, boost and EGT.

Gauges and Oil Cooler where on the list as well, as well as a nice pair of alloys and some R rated tyres.

isnt it a common fault on the R, the seals in the master cylinder or something?? Sounds like a seal anyway.
